The Motivations Behind NEW ECONOMY
In a recent interview, I was asked the question which is also the title of this post.
Our new reality: We are inventing a NEW ECONOMY. This NEW ECONOMY extends a portion of the ownership of the work to the worker. The worker, as an independent contractor, is often becoming an independent entrepreneur. The worker can engage in multiple income possibilities depending upon their objectives. The worker also controls when the work can be done and how the work can be accomplished.
Technology is also a great enabler. We now communicate faster, and there are no geographical barriers or time zone constraints.
It is not unusual to be on a video conference with friends, family or business partners located thousands of miles away who may be in a different time zone. We can now talk to a few people… 2, 10, or 20 as effectively as we used to talk to ONE via one of many easy-to-use tools that are available.
I saw a need to express insights gained from continuous research, reading, and study. NEW ECONOMY is written to provide the marketplace of people, from all levels of society, who are seeking opportunities and possibilities or are already involved in taking control of how they can live and work differently. This is what I often refer to as becoming the architect of one’s own destiny.
Our objectives became quite clear as the NEW ECONOMY manuscript came together.
Provide enough stats and facts to support any assertions that we might make in the book.
Stimulate thinking via sharing of insights and perspectives.
Activate the audience… encourage them to be proud of what they may be doing, encourage them to start something if they are not leveraging NEW ECONOMY opportunities and possibilities. Support their desire and efforts to better understand the NEW ECONOMY.
Direct Selling is the Focus of Chapter 7
We encourage the reader to explore direct selling possibilities. We explain why they should explore. Direct Selling is the only business model that we emphasize the way we do. The chapter about direct selling is inclusive of our assertion: Direct Selling is unique! As a direct seller you choose how and when you do the work.
As a direct seller you collaborate with an established company that provides all essential marketing, products, and services.
As a direct seller, you are not required to carry inventory… your chosen company ships directly to customers you acquire and others you may influence who also become direct sellers.
As a direct seller you gain the opportunity to leverage your personal advocacy of the brand you represent. The direct seller adds value to the relationship between the brand and the customer because of the personal relationship the direct seller can initiate and maintain. Therefore, a direct seller gains an ownership interest in the relationship with customers and other brand partners.
Direct sellers not only benefit from immediate transactions; they also benefit from the lifetime value of the customer(s) they help to acquire and retain. The same is true when influencing others who also become direct sellers. This most unique aspect of the direct selling model makes direct selling our obvious choice for recommendation. Not necessarily the only choice but certainly a preferred choice!
The People Who Are Participating
Chapter 8 in the book NEW ECONOMY is about people who are participating. The voices of the new Independent Worker/Independent Entrepreneur share their stories… impressive stories. This chapter is not about the amount of money earned—it is about “why” the people who contributed to this chapter chose to do what they are doing and how satisfied they are. Kate Gardner led the effort to gather and aggregate some immensely powerful stories.
NEW ECONOMY is not written for an academic audience or an executive audience although both will gain from the insights and perspectives. NEW ECONOMY is written to support your audience, to support their thinking. NEW ECONOMY is not written to provide any “how to.” Therefore, from this perspective, NEW ECONOMY is supportive of your objectives to educate your audience and grow your business model.
